In this Centenary year of the Pauline Family, we will celebrate our 7th Interchapter in the Generalate in Rome from 17 to 31 August 2014. Our theme will be:
"In communion for a luminous and appealing presence in the Church.
Think globally and act locally”
During the Interchapter, the Sisters of the General Government with the Superiors of the Circumscriptions, will review the Triennium from the 8th General Chapter; reflect on some topics of common interest to the religious family and while looking toward the future, undertake the journey of the next Triennium (2014-2017).

Festa di Sant'Antonio di Padova nella parrocchia di Payneham (Adelaide)
Dal 9 al 15 Giugno si è svolta una settimana di Missione e di predicazione in onore di Sant’Antonio nella Chiesa Our Lady Queen of Peace, Payneham. Quest’anno il predicatore è stato Padre Mario Conte, francescano conventuale e direttore del Messaggero di S. Antonio in inglese, venuto da Padova.
Ogni giorno ha celebrato, al mattino in Inglese e alla sera in Italiano e ha svolto i seguenti temi:
•Sant’Antonio, predicatore della Parola
•Sant’Antonio e la Vergine Maria
•Sant’Antonio, pescatore di uomini
•Sant’Antonio e i poveri
•Sant’Antonio, vedo il mio Signore
•Sant’Antonio, uomo di preghiera
•La vocazione di Sant’Antonio
Abbiamo visto la Chiesa gremita di fedeli sia di lingua inglese sia Italiani. Al termine di ogni Messa c’è stato il bacio della reliquia di Sant’Antonio che Padre Mario ha portato da Padova. Domenica 15 giugno oltre alle Messe ci sono stati festeggiamenti in sala con una varietà di cibi Italiani e con tanta musica, danza, gioiosa e fraternità. La giornata si è conclusa con il film: "Sant’Antonio- Santo dei miracoli".
Lunedì 16 Giugno P. Mario insieme al parroco P. Allan Winter sono andati a Melbourne a visitare le nostre sorelle di Bundoora dove hanno celebrato l’Eucaristia. Hanno avuto l’occasione, inoltre, di incontrarsi con i sacerdoti della parrocchia di St Francis of Assisi, Mill Park, dove molti fedeli hanno una devozione molto sentita a Sant’Antonio e dove si spera l’anno prossimo di poter celebrare solennemente la festa del Santo, con la visita e predicazione di uno dei frati di Padova accompagnato dalla reliquia.

Companions in the ways of faith
As Pastorelle Sisters we are called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be signs of the compassion of Jesus whose love reaches all people, in all circumstances of daily life. We are called to be companions in the ways of faith and search for meaning… to animate the parish in faith and charity… to pray for and with the pastors as well as for and with the people to whom we are sent…
The parish community of St Paul, Coburg, with Fr Sean O’Connell as parish priest, is blessed with the presence of Sr Mia Garnace who has been journeying with the parish multicultural community for many years, currently only part-time due to her undertaking full time studies at the Australian Institute of Family Counselling.
With the cooperation of three Coordinators, Sr Mia provides a wide range of opportunities that allow people to grow in their faith, explore different ways of praying, serve the parish community in a diversity of ministries, and form deep fraternal bonds as a Christian community made up of people from different countries and different cultural backgrounds, as well as being of different ages. Regular social activities are also a part of their annual program.
The multicultural community is made up of adults, young children and teenagers and Sr Mia endeavours sensitively to run programs that suit their ages and help them experience faith as an integral part of their life and an unfailing source of strength, making them joyful disciples of Jesus and his witnesses in the wider community. The growing demand for individual and family counselling has required Sr Mia to take up formal studies in counselling.
Family prayer in the home, especially the prayer of the Rosary, the Taize’ prayer with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Mothers Prayers Group, the formation and accompaniment of leaders, Kids night with fun and games, and animating the Sunday liturgy as parish choir are some of the expressions of the life of faith of St Paul’s multicultural community.
All this brings to mind the words of our Founder which we read on the first day of the novena to St Peter and St Paul: “Souls that love Jesus carry with them the fruit of sanctity which is reflected towards all the souls they come close to. Your love of Jesus is rendered concrete by your love towards souls:….” (PrP VIII, 1957).

La vostra missione è una missione di gioia...
Il nostro Fondatore, Beato Giacomo Alberione, parlando ad un gruppo di Pastorelle a Roma nel 1942 così diceva: "La vostra missione è missione di gioia! il segreto delle Suore Pastorelle è la gioia che viene da Dio, la nostra felicità eterna! Voi siete le consolatrici dove c’è il dolore!.... La gioia appartiene a tutte le anime che vivono in intima unione con Gesù."
Sr. Letizia Selle concretizza molto bene queste parole del Fondatore e, alla sua età veneranda di 86 anni, uno dei modi con cui continua la sua missione di gioia è la guida del coro Italiano per l’animazione della Messa domenicale, e ogni mercoledì mattino è presente con il Gruppo dei Pensionati Italiani che vengono per la celebrazione della Messa e poi radunarsi nella sala della parrocchia per attività sociali. Sr Letizia è stata uno strumento fondamentale nell’organizzazione del Gruppo Pensionati con l’assistenza di un comitato e del Comune locale.
Sr Letizia è stata nella Parrocchia di San Luca, Lalor-Thomastown per più di 30 anni, testimoniando la gioia di una vita consacrata vissuta in comunità e generosamente spesa nella cura pastorale della parrocchia, insieme ai padri Scalabriniani, in particolare visitando le famiglie nei momenti di malattia e di lutto, aiutando nelle celebrazioni di feste particolari in onore di santi venerati da diversi gruppi, come la Madonna della Catena, S. Donato ecc..... La sua presenza gentile e piena di fede ha portato tanta pace e consolazione a tante persone. Davvero, sr Letizia è "un raggio di luce e di sole benefico e continuo nella parrocchia".
Avendo dovuto lasciare la patente, sr Letizia non può più guidare la macchina e visitare le famiglie nelle loro case, ma spesso sono i parrocchiani ad invitare lei per condividere un pranzo o accompagnarla a visitare anziani nei vari ricoveri. E’ stato difficile per lei lasciare la patente, ma anche in questo è stata un esempio meraviglioso per noi di una persona che sa lasciare e accettare con serenità i limiti di salute e di età.
La fedeltà di sr Letizia alla preghiera quotidiana è stata sempre edificante. I bisogni del mondo, della Congregazione e della Chiesa sono stati sempre presenti nella sua preghiera. Anche se la sua memoria non è più come una volta, continua ad avere interesse per la vita della Congregazione e per le attività pastorali delle Pastorelle nel mondo.
Attraverso i suoi 61 anni di Suora Pastorella (57 spesi in Australia), l’amore di sr Letizia per Gesù Buon Pastore ha colorato tutto quello che ha fatto, detto e vissuto, sia nell’apostolato che nella comunità. Davvero, la missione di sr Letizia è’ stata e continua ad essere una missione di gioia e in lei vediamo il compimento di una vita vissuta in intima unione con Gesù.

In a meditation to the Pastorelle Sisters in 1957 he said: “Your love of Jesus is rendered concrete by your love towards souls: for this you give your strength, your capabilities, your whole life, just as you have professed to do….day by day, give your life.” (PrP VIII, 1957 p.185).
Different pastoral events in which our sisters have been involved in recent times are expressions of our love of Jesus rendered concrete by our love towards others.
Sr Ignacia Coching alongside Fr Anthony Girolami has been involved in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults journey that saw the welcoming of ten people, eight adults and two children, into the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil at St Francis of Assisi parish, Mill Park. The Rite of Initiation (RCIA) is likened to a spiritual journey that takes place within the parish community and involves a series of sessions with members of the faithful, to pray together, to learn about the life of Jesus through the Gospels, and discuss what His message means for us in everyday life.
Sr Doreen Bentley led a reflection morning for Ladies on 3rd May at Loyola College, Watsonia. “The Cup of Life” was the theme that Doreen developed using a real cup as a symbol of different stages and experiences of life. Her gentle way of leading the reflection was an opening for the ladies to share at deep level significant aspects of their story seen through “the cup.”
In the weeks leading up to Easter, the Bundoora community held Lenten sessions for parishioners in our chapel and about twelve people gathered each Wednesday to prayerfully explore the Lenten themes using a program called “You have set us free”.
We also had the joy of celebrating Good Shepherd Sunday and the 51st World Day of Prayer for Vocations in St Damian’s Church, Bundoora, on 11th May 2014 together with the Daughters of St Paul, the Good Samaritan Sisters who live in our parish, and a good number of Pauline Cooperators and Friends of Jesus Good Shepherd. Sr Ignacia shared the story of her vocation in the course of the prayer.
One other very happy recent event was the graduation of Sr Nelia Llanto at St Patrick’s cathedral on 2nd May 2014. Nelia has attended Catholic Theological College (CTC) and received a Graduate Diploma of Theology from the University of Divinity. This University of Divinity, previously known as the Melbourne College of Divinity, is an ecumenical marvel, comprising ten Colleges from eight different denominations. Archbishop Hart led the gathering in prayer while Rev John Henderson, Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Australia, gave the graduation address. It was a memorable occasion!
